Winter is of course a season filled with fun and festivity, but there’s no doubt that it can be a cold season too! Rather than endure the season with a chill and a shiver, I love to equip myself with warm, cosy knits that will keep me snug over those chilly months.

I definitely feel the cold (much easier than others I think!) so I always go for a nice thick, even chunky material. As per my love for chunky shoulders, jumpers with built-in shoulder pads are always top of my list, so much so that I’ll sew in shoulder pads myself! Padding out your top half is a great way to contour the body, and create the allusion of a smaller waist and if shoulder pads have to go amiss, then big sleeves are the next best thing.

Oversized seems to be an evergreen term in the fashion world, so a big sleeve is a great way to add a touch of style and flair to your outfit. Burgundy’s, creams, blacks, greys and navy (my favourite) are my usual picks but everyone’s got their own preference, so delve in! Here are some of my most-loved, cosy winter knits that would be a gorgeous addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

Metallic cable-knit sweater by CO

Blending sophistication with flair and style, this cable-knit jumper leaped onto my wish list with little doubt intact! It’s a classic that would look good on all occasions, whether that be under a jacket on a cold winters day, at a lunch with friends or clients, or simply around the house with the little ones. Cosy, warm and stylish – a hatrick of a jumper!

Mohair balloon sleeve jumper by Jigsaw

I’m such a fan of this deep purple knit – it’s jewel tones and puffy sleeves makes for a bold and chic statement while being comfortable, warm and softer than soft! Comfort and fashion don’t always see eye to eye, but this knit is an exception being an item of clothing that I continually come back to when I want to be stylish and snug at the same time. Paired with some jeans or leather trousers, for a more dressier look, this jumper exudes a London vibe and is a key part to any winter wardrobe.

Button detail Jumper by Helen Short

Seamed with chunky button detail, this boxy knit is a must-have for anyone who needs a stylish, easy option – and quick! On days where I have less time to think about what to wear, this woolen jumper saves the day mixing the classic with the contemporary and going with just about anything! For casual days, I wear it with leggings or jeans, but it also looks fabulous with a leather skirt or trousers. Whether worn in the city or country, this jumper can be layered or worn by itself – it’s longline sleeves sit snug over the wrists making sure to keep you warm throughout!

Bold Shoulder Roll Neck Jumper by TopShop

It would be an understatement to say this jumper is a must for the winter! I love this jumper for it’s rich mustard color – it’s a beam of warmth in those cold, blue days. The puffed shoulders and roll neck would go perfectly with a leather skirt or flared jeans for a super-charged London-look!

On stage cashmere knit by Rainbow Luxe

This Rainbow Luxe jumper has been one of my absolute favourites this winter – I love the fun star pattern and the gorgeous shoulders which have a little bit of padding so they give a fabulous v shape – I wear mine with jeans & over the knee boots for a day time look, leggings for a casual look, or leather skirt or trousers for the evenings – its super soft and warm and the details make it stand out from the crowd – my absolute fav!!

Degardé peplum-hem cardigan by Alexander McQueen

This is going on my wish list – I don’t normally spend this much on a piece of knitwear but I absolutely love the shape of this cute cardigan, the puff sleeves and the nipped in waist is so me – I love to enhance my waist and this will go with literally everything; I’m thinking leather trousers and killer heels for a statement night-time look…

Lace-up fluted-hem wool-knit sweater by Alexander McQueen

I am loving this McQueen peplum style jumper – this would definitely be another day to night piece – its at the top end of my budget and will need to be added to my wishlist but I am loving the shape and colour – LOVE!!!
