Hair Styling Tips

One frequently asked question I get is how do I style my hair.  I’ve had long hair all my life so I’ve always found it second nature to blow dry it myself using a big brush and Velcro rollers.  It sounds like a lot of hassle and I don’t do it everyday but its so worth it as a good blow dry can last a few days and there are ways to keep it refreshed and bouncy and fresh even after a couple of days not washing.

I have a few tools which I’m going to share with you here so you can give it a go and I’ve done a few tutorials so do head to Youtube or IGTV to watch how I do it.

I don’t’ have the time or money for frequent trips to the hairdresser and I use my trips as a special treat for topping up my highlights and having a great cut .  I see these as an investment as it does make your hair easier to manage.

First thing you need to do is head to Amazon – I’m going to link all the items here to make it really easy.

Products:

-Styling Brush: I love the Nano Technology Ceramic brush.  I only use the largest one and I find it glides through your hair and never gets stuck unlike some of the other round styling brushes which you sometimes have to untangle out of your hair.

Velcro rollers: medium – the best way to create volume is to pin in a Velcro roller in to each section as you are blow drying – you will see a dramatic difference in volume and wave and the longer you leave them in the more volume and wave you wil achieve.

If I’m super organized I will wash my hair and roller it before the childrens bath so that they are in for an hour before I go out – then you really get the wow factor

Metal pins: these are by far the easiest way to hold in the rollers – one or 2 pins per roller depending on how heavy your hair is.

-Hairspray: Elnett normal strength – this is by far the best one I’ve tried – it doesn’t stick your hair together but holds your hair in the style for a long time and still allows movement – I hate the stuck hair look – I like my hair to look bouncy and natural with lots of healthy shine and volume.

Heated rollers: my absolute favourite!

This is the most time saving trick I can give you – salon ready hair in less than 10 mins.  Its best to use them when your hair isn’t too clean and silky, the bounce and wave will last longer if you spray in a little dry shampoo at the roots first and once I’ve tousled the curls out a little I always use my Elnett hairspray to finish.

I only use the red large ones and the pins – don’t ever use the clips as they leave big kinks in your hair, I use my butterfly clips to grip a little hair from the back of the roller to attach to my roots to hold the ones on the top in.

-Hairdryers: I always use a professional hairdryer as I find you can dry your hair faster and they don’t damage your hair with the intense heat.

The best ones are the 3200 w.

I’ve burnt out so many cheap ones so its definitely worth the investment, here are a few of my favourites:

Parlux Advance Light Iconic:

Parlux Super Turbo:

Parlux Professional:

The one I’m currently using is:

The Cura Luxe T3 – its an investment but its amazing!
