My favourite makeup essentials and why I love them!

Looking your best for me equals feeling your best and most confident and I am not ashamed to say I am not keen on going anywhere without a touch of bronzer or a dap of blusher or lipgloss.  I don’t think it’s vain or self-indulgent to give yourself a quick groom in the morning and I really enjoy the ritual side of it and the one part of the day that is mine

I also love having a fake bake tan from @secretspa once a fortnight too – it instantly makes me feel healthy and is a great time-saving tip as you already have a base for everything – when I’m in a rush or going for a workout I just add a touch of concealer and some blusher/bronzer and a little lip gloss or lipstick.

It is important to exfoliate between tans to keep your skin fresh and not leave any residue to block pores or make your tan look uneven.  In the summer I tend to go for the fake bake medium or dark and in the winter the lighter one.

Here is my daily makeup routine:

I always cleanse, tone and moisturise before applying anything to my face as your daily skin care ritual is essential for keeping a clean, clear and moisturised complexion.

The makeup I use is paraben-free, sulphate-free, alcohol-free, made in England, never tested on animals.

You can also use code “SOPHIE10” on all Cosmetics a la Carte products listed below.

5-minute quick school run/gym make up (takes 3 mins):

•    Concealer if I need under the eyes – Melba by Cosmetics a la carte – I dab this on with my fingers or a sponge and make sure it’s blended

•    Cream blusher – blush – by Cosmetics a la Carte

•    Lipgloss – English Rose by Cosmetics a la Carte

•    Or Lipstick – Sophie by Cosmetics a la Carte

Prep with

•    Primer – Complexion enhancer – nude kiss K8 – by Cosmetics a la Carte – its always nice to put a base on and takes seconds, I find this evens out my skin tone and holds my makeup on all day

For more coverage and a fuller makeup look for parties, weddings and events:

•    I use the firm and glow foundation in sand by Cosmetics a la Carte– I put this on with a hand-made and short-handled foundation brush, its smaller than my normal one and gets in all the creases as well as conveniently fitting in my makeup bag

•    Secret Light Serum Concealer in Melba – contains a botanical extract that works to minimise puffs and shadows, it’s makeup with skincare benefits and you can apply with your fingers or a sponge

•    Followed with the cream blusher in blush

•    For a smokey eye please head to my tutorial on IGTV where I am using my new duo palette

•    Eye Define Eyeshadow/Smokey Eyeshadow Duo – highly pigmented, non-drop, super easy to use and applied with 3 brushes

  1. Socket Brush
  2. Blending Brush
  3. Shadow Brush

•    The Sienna gel eyeliner glides on easily and adds a little more drama

•    The Lipstick I use is SOPHIE used with the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner

•    And the English Rose Lip Gloss adds more glamour as well as moisturising and conditioning like a liquid lip balm, enriched with Vitamin E

•    Finally the Silk Touch Finishing Powder in Sunny is really sheer and transparent, it doesn’t cake or crease and the warm yellow tone has a subtle brightening effect

For a more natural weekend look:

•    I use the Radiance Tinted Moisturizer in Almond – this has a lovely coconut oil in it which gives a really dewy appearance and makes you look super healthy and fresh

•    I then tap in a little of the cream blusher on my cheeks

•    The Amour cream eye shadow glides on with your fingertips and gives some great eye illumination

•    Followed with the gel eyeliner in Sienna

For a more natural look, this is all I use and it takes literally less than 5 mins

Day to Day daytime makeup:

•    Once your skin is cleaned and prepped I try and remember to use an SPF to protect in the summer

•    My favourite one at the moment is the Trinny London BFF cream with SPF 30. I also use the Frezyderm Sunscreen with SPF 50+.

•    I use a little of my bespoke blended foundation or the firm and glow depending on how much coverage I want, they are both very similar but the firm and glow is a little more coverage

•    I follow with cream blusher in blush

•    Eyes vary from Trinny London “Mystery” or the Cosmetics a la Carte Armour and occasionally I use my Suqqu 04 palette which is a similar colour but in a powder form – this I apply with a brush

•    I brush my brows, gently brush out my lash extensions

•    Then apply a little lipstick – the SOPHIE is my favourite but I also love the English Rose Gloss to carry with me all day.

•    I add a little bronzer at the end to get a healthy glow – I love either the powder by Hourglass in Radiant Bronze Light Ambient or the Cosmetics a la Carte in Bare Bronze which is amazing on your hairline and under your cheekbones

•    To add a little more glam I top up with blush touch in Flame from Cosmetics a la Carte

•    And I use a very little touch of the Silk Touch Translucent Powder – colour sunny to get rid of any very shiny areas.

For ease, I am linking here the Cosmetics a La Carte top picks which I use every day.

I hope you find this useful and you can head to my IGTV for some tutorials.

Love

Sophie x
